It’s 2025 and one walks into a bottle shop only to be confronted by pallet-stacks, endless shelves of cans with pretty labels, screaming at you “pick me, pick me!” and you’d be forgiven for being temporarily plunged into an existential crisis … what do I really want? How many variations of a pale ale do we really need? Is there anything that’s new … genuinely original?  What is my life all about …?! Well, the solution is here!   

There can be nothing so original as this very, very special brew; using no hops, this farmhouse ale of simple conception has been aromatised by hand-foraged, wild-grown Tasmanian native botanical, kunzea ambigua, supplied by the delightful “library-on-legs”, Paulette Whitney who runs the magical Provenance Growers in the foothills on the outskirts of Hobart at the entrance to the wonderland that is the Tasmanian native forests.

And the label?  Well, that too is a little magical & relates to a time, long ago, when my youngest daughter & I used to go on foraging expeditions along the entanglements of the River Derwent, finding wild hops, wild berries, various botanicals of intrigue and plenty of magical memories.
