"From King Valley and a mere three days on skins. What a fun wine, but also kinda serious. It has the shimmer of tannin that sets up refreshment factor, a sluice of raspberry, cherry, fennel and light green almond characters. Nice one. You’d not guess saperavi per se but there’s some DNA of the variety here for sure, set up in a delightfully light and vibrant style. I was on radio (Eastside FM in Sydney) earlier, showing the wine to the host who I speak to every two weeks about all things drinks, and he said, ‘my wife likes fish, I like beef, and I reckon this wine could go across both really well’, I added in, ‘absolutely, chill your wife’s glass and away we go’.
