An imperial stout, we have followed the forerunners Dogs A-C with the mix of cacao, coffee and naga chillies – and as with last year’s Dog D we have again aged the beer in bourbon barrels, to put an entirely complementary layer of flavour on top of the already compelling payload. As a result, the spicy hops - backed by the chilli heat – are rounded by that extra tier of dark molasses and almost brandy-like vanilla and oak from the wood. With espresso and dark chocolate bitterness in the flavours as well, Dog E might just be the most warming and redolent beer we have ever made.
