"Brewed with Carwyn Cellars & released to mark their revival, this collaboration features a very rare Carwyn-exclusive “Darkness” Port Charlotte 13 YO Oloroso Cask Scotch Whisky. A hybrid Barleywine/Scotch Ale base was brewed, then aged on “Darkness” infused oak, delivering intense peat aroma, herbal earthiness, & impression of Rauchbier. As it warms, notes of chocolate and toffee emerge. Medium-full bodied & velvety, it balances sweetness with bold peated & whisky notes - think prunes, raisins, burnt caramel, and toast. A touch of acidity, firm bitterness, and savoury peat lead to an off-dry finish. It's a rich, complex celebration beer, begging for a roast to be paired with.
