"A very special dark brew born from ancient history. This beer is powered by genuine, 4,000-year-old yeast extracted by microbiologists in the USA from Egyptian Middle Kingdom bread dating back to 2010 B.C.E., revived and reawakened for us by the experts at Bluestone Yeast in Melbourne.
Our first experiment with this ancient strain was Sekhmet’s Rage—a Pomegranate Red Ale honouring the bloodthirsty goddess who nearly destroyed humanity until she was pacified by a pomegranate red-dyed beer. For this special release, created for and debuting in the Carwyn Cellars Black Box 2026, we have brewed a bolder, higher-octane, Dark Ale edition. Brewed with authentic period ingredients, including pomegranate, carob, dates, juniper berries, hibiscus, and spiced with coriander, it is delightfully tart and fruity with a distinct, ancient funk." -Bacchus
