Schlenkerla

Founded in 1405 in Bamberg, Germany, the Schlenkerla brewhouse is run today by the Trum family (6th generation) and is the source of the Original Schlenkerla Smokebeer (in German it's called "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier").

The smoked beer there is still being tapped directly from wooden barrels (according to old tradition) at the brewery tavern and it’s one of the places you must visit when doing a beer pilgrimage around Europe!

Rauchbier (German for “smoke beer”) can be a bit overwhelming, but at the same time it can be an exciting experience. If you want a beer that taste like bacon, this is the brewery for you - incredibly moreish and just all-round delicious!
