Nelson Sauvin: The Quinessential New Zealand Hop

Nelson Sauvin has made a name for itself as one of the most intriguing variety of hops out there. After extensive breeding and development by the Horticulture and Food Research Institute (HFRI) of New Zealand, Nelson Sauvin was released in 2000. Steadily gaining popularity, it is now one of the most sought-after hops coming out of New Zealand.

The aroma and flavour profile is full of fruity and berry characters, with similarities to the Sauvignon Blanc grape - which is how it got its name! Nelson Sauvin is used in an array of different brews, although most often found in more hoppier styles where it can shine on its own, or it can be paired with other fruity hop varieties like Citra and Galaxy to produce complimenting flavours.
