Canvent 2021 has reached the end! And what a ride it has been!

We were super happy to see a wider variety of styles this year: lagers, wilds, west coasts, hazies, sours, wheaty, smokey, fruited and dark! And we are super thankful for all these breweries that put so much effort in their craft. We were blown away!⁠

We’d like to THANK YOU ALL for all of your Canvent stories, photos, videos, feedback, tags, etc. We have absolutely loved seeing your reactions and excitement around these beers, and your creativity never ceases to amaze us.⁠

We’ll see you next year and of course, we are already planning Canvent 2022.

Canvent 2021 Line-Up

#1 • HAWKERS BREWING (VIC) - PARTY STARTER

🍺 Triple Hazy IPA⁠ • 🥴 10.2% ABV⁠

Packed with mango pineapple and coconut character this really well balanced super juicy triple ipa is a phenomenal start to Canvent!

#2 • BIG SHED BREWING (SA) - STRAWBERRY & GRAPE IMPERIAL SOUR⁠

🍺 West Coast IPA⁠ • 🥴 7.5% ABV⁠

A real flavour bomb! Think of pink and purple Nerds and grape Hubba Bubba. This beer is a real throwback to those candies we loved when we were kids (and still do!).

#3 • MOUNTAIN CULTURE (NSW) - YANKEE SWAP⁠

🍺 West Coast IPA⁠ • 🥴 7.5% ABV⁠

Loads of dank and resinous hops bringing us straight into the American Pacific North west. If you are one of those who loves a bitter West Coast IPA, you won’t be disappointed. The bitterness is REAL, and backed up with a nice balancing chewy malt character.

#4 • SHAPESHIFTER BREWING (SA) - ALL OF THE LIGHTS

🍺 DDH Hazy Pale Ale⁠⁠ • 🥴 5.7% ABV⁠

From clear to HAZE. Shapeshifter comes with this refreshing release with notes of citrus, passionfruit and mild biscuit, perfect for a hot summer day. Absolutely quaffable.

#5 • MOON DOG (VIC) - MATCHA MATCHA MAN

🍺 Matcha Kit Kat Strong Ale⁠⁠⁠ • 🥴 6.5% ABV⁠

In true Moon Dog style, this out-of-the-box brew brings loads of flavour to our Canvent. Expect Matcha (duh!), Raspberry, White chocolate and a bitter matcha-like finish. There’s no faffin, all the flavours are as they say. Harmonious and deliciously balanced.

#6 • 3 RAVENS (VIC) - WILD RAVENS TROPICAL WILD ALE

🍺 BA Mixed Culture Beer⁠ • 🥴 5.5% ABV⁠

This beer is a collaboration with the Carwyn team, with Head Brewer Brendan inviting the Bens down to the brewery to taste though his ever-growing collection of barrels and select this delicious blend way back in April! This delicious Barrel Aged Sour has notes of sour plums, apple, apricots and papaya with a light sour finish. Very drinkable, yet complex. A lovely journey from the first sip. 3 Ravens have surprised us once again.⁠

#7 • BRIGHT BREWERY (VIC) - DOUBLE DOGGOBRAU

🍺 Double XPA⁠ • 🥴 7.5% ABV⁠

With notes of ripe stonefruit, pina colada and mango plus a nice dry finish, this refreshing Double XPA will totally quench your thirst in this warm month. We’re sure this beer will be quite pawpular with you all.⁠ Bright are donating part proceeds of Double Doggo Brau to RSPCA Victoria so cheers to that!⁠

#8 • BANKS BREWING (VIC) - EXTRA FOAM

🍺 North German Pils⁠ • 🥴 5% ABV⁠

Foam Pils has been taken to the next level. This “Extra” version keeps the nice clean character of the original, with a nice doughy malt with notes of hay, and some grassy and slightly lemony notes coming from the hops. A good delicate but well executed pause in between all these flavour bombs.⁠

#9 • BOJACK BREWING (VIC) - STOCKING FILLER

🍺 Xmas Pudding Imperial Stout⁠⁠ • 🥴 8.8% ABV⁠

All the holiday cheer in a can. This stout’s character has a good dose of bitterness, roast, toast and dark dried fruit while hiding its booze very well. Think of Christmas cake, ginger bread and espresso. ⁠

#10 • SPOTTY DOG (TAS) - CHRISTMAS IN LA

🍺 Triple IPA⁠⁠ • 🥴 10% ABV⁠

Spotty dog has delivered exactly what we expected (and more) in this delicious boozy Triple West Coast IPA. Loads of grapefruit, resin, pine and caramel. Flavourful and dank.⁠ It might be from Hobart, but it feels like Los Angeles, baby.⁠

#11 • SUNDAY ROAD (NSW) - DECK THE HOPS

🍺 NEIPA⁠⁠ • 🥴 6.6% ABV⁠

Lightly bitter and fruity, with notes of tangerine, green papaya, mandarin, and mango! Everything you want a NEIPA to be, with a delicate mouthfeel that just makes you want to take another sip.⁠⁠

#12 • GARAGE PROJECT (NZ) - KISS KISS BANG BANG

🍺 Pastry Imperial Stout⁠⁠ • 🥴 11.5% ABV⁠

Different from most of their traditional stouts, Garage Project provides a rich and heavy stout with a good dose of malt, roast, lactose and fruit! Think of sour cherries and vanilla in this thick flavour-filled pastry stout! A decadent treat.⁠

#13 • MOLLY ROSE (VIC) - SMALL CAN SYNDROME

🍺 Helles Lager⁠⁠ • 🥴 5.4% ABV⁠

This refreshing Helles lager is bready from malts and floral from its hops, with a good balancing hop bitterness and notes of meyer lemon popping through as it warms up. It might not be big enough for a litre stein, but surely enough to quench our thirst.⁠⁠

#14 • ONE DROP BREWING (NSW) - MR. CON MAN

🍺 Raspberry Banana Hefeweizen⁠⁠⁠ • 🥴 5.5% ABV⁠

A very modern take on a very traditional style! This Hefe tastes like a banana and raspberry mousse, providing a nice creaminess in mouth and notes of jam and a light dried banana aftertaste. Of course One Drop would want to brew a Weissbier and make it true to their style. Always standing out these fellas, and we love to see it!⁠⁠

#15 • PIKES BEER (SA) - EASY SQUEASY

🍺 Tropical Sour Beer • 🥴 6.4% ABV⁠

This is like tropical breakfast juice! Quite floral with notes of candied papaya, passion fruit, citrus peel and mild mango. Well balanced and with a dry finish, this refreshing beer will truly bring all the tropical holiday vibes to your December.⁠⁠⁠

#16 • HARGREAVES HILL (VIC) - DOUBLE ESB

🍺 Imperial Extra Special Bitter • 🥴 8% ABV⁠

Double the goodness in this delicious Double ESB. With notes of toast, light caramel and biscuit, dried out by a good dose of bitterness (who would’ve thought?!) and a fruity and light tropical taste; Hargreaves Hill have taken one of their most iconic beers to a whole new level.⁠⁠⁠⁠

#17 • KAIJU BEER (VIC) - SPACE CADET

🍺 Double IPA • 🥴 8% ABV⁠

This is a really punchy and nicely balanced Double IPA with notes of honeydew melon, grapefruit, and pine. Quite clean and drinkable, with a good dry finish that encourages you for another sip. Hopefully it leaves you “floating in a most peculiar way”.⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠

#18 • CHEEKY MONKEY (WA) - NOEL NOIR

🍺 Imperial Stout • 🥴 10% ABV⁠

This imperial stout will not disappoint! Besides the lovely oak character, this thick dark beer also brings notes of bourbon, vanilla & coffee as it warms up. Very well balanced with a nice roasty finish. Cheeky indeed, fellas.⁠

#19 • WOLF OF THE WILLOWS (VIC) - VIOLET BEAUREGARDE

🍺 Berry Cream Sour • 🥴 6% ABV⁠

Wolf of the Willows brings a nice pastry treat ideal for the holidays. Think of blueberry pie, custard and butterscotch original Werther’s; the nostalgia is BIG on this berry cream sour. Make sure to drink it while watching a classic film or surrounded by family. ⁠

#20 • WORKING TITLE (QLD) - BETTER WATCH OUT

🍺 White Xmas Pastry Ale • 🥴 8% ABV⁠

You better watch out indeed! Working title has brewed a beer with LOADS of flavour. Notes of breadcrust, light biscuit, coconut pastries & apricot squares. The beer keeps evolving and providing more character as it warms up, don’t drink it too quick or you’ll miss out!

#21 • LOVE SHACK (VIC) - CHERRY & THYME SOUR

🍺 Fruited Berliner Weisse⁠ • 🥴 3.8% ABV⁠

Love Shack taking us to a more delicate place with this delicious session sour. Don’t let that 3.8% ABV fool you, this beer doesn’t skimp on flavour. Notes of morello cherries, quince paste, mild thyme and cherry pie. Light in acidity and refreshing.

#22 • DEEDS (VIC) - THE UNTANGLING OF CHAOS

🍺 Belgian Quad • 🥴 10.6% ABV⁠

Deeds bringing a really traditional style into play this canvent! We’re talking BIG, RICH and BOLD with this Belgian Quad. Good malt complexity and a gorgeous estery character. Notes of peach skin, sticky date pudding, overripe banana and dark caramel. Really well balanced.

#23 • ROCKY RIDGE (WA) - FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US

🍺 Triple IPA • 🥴 12% ABV⁠

This Rocky Ridge Triple IPA, made in true West Coast style, is very big on the citrus character; with notes of orange peel, lemon curd and light basil in mouth. The 12% ABV is well hidden and the bitterness is perfectly balancing the malt sweetness, making it super enjoyable. A real “feat of strength”.

#23 • ROCKY RIDGE (WA) - FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US

🍺 Triple IPA • 🥴 12% ABV⁠

This Rocky Ridge Triple IPA, made in true West Coast style, is very big on the citrus character; with notes of orange peel, lemon curd and light basil in mouth.
