To celebrate 10 years of taps here at Carwyn Cellars, we invited 6 of our brewery BFFs (Fox Friday, Hop Nation, 3 Ravens, Boatrocker, Kaiju and Hawkers), who we've poured countless kegs of over the past decade, to collaborate on the ultimate birthday breakfast beer. Fittingly, this beer was launched at a spritely 9am on Saturday 26 October as part of our All Day Birthday Breakfast Blowout - alongside some event exclusive, one-keg-only extra fruited variants.

From a brainstorming session at Carwyn Cellars in late August, to a brew day at Fox Friday at the end of September, to a fittingly early 9am launch at Carwyn Cellars on Saturday 26 October, plenty of incredibly knowledgeable people have been involved. Thow in two additional event exclusive, one-keg-only extra fruited variants and it certainly hit the breakfast juice brief!

Fox Friday, who hosted the collab brew, shared this about the brew process:

We threw down a Fruited Hazy IPA made with Citra Cryo, Cashmere, Krush, El Dorado, Citra Incognito & Sabro and some Riwaka Amplifire Hop Oil for good measure. The grist consists of Voyager Veloria, Barrett Burston Pale, Rolled Oats, Golden Naked Oats & Chit malt and the ever trusty Bluestone New England yeast worked its fermentation magic.

The addition of Orange Zest at the end of the boil & both Pineapple and Passionfruit puree towards the end of fermentation really helped to take this Hazy IPA into Brekky Juice territory!

All Day Breakfast Birthday Blowout event

Honestly, we couldn’t be any more happy and thankful with all the people that showed up to celebrate with us the bar’s 10th birthday! On a cracker of a day (22 degrees and sunny ) we saw people coming bright and early at 9AM to to enjoy a breakfast beer & other brunchy cocktails (the Cantillon Mimosas were VERY popular!) alongside a special all day breakfast menu.

Those who came in the late afternoon hit up even more All Day Breakfast, 2 for 1 pints of local legends, Micheladas and Latin & Afrobeat tunes from DJ Patagon. And what birthday is complete without a cake? Our friends & neighbours All Are Welcome made us a monster orange velvet cake, with passionfruit buttercream and pineapple jam.

But, back to the beer. We're beyond stoked with how All Day Breakfast turned out - expect notes of pineapple juice and orange to dominate the nose, with a light dankness in the background and underripe stonefruit character. In mouth, the flavour is sweet at first with peach nectar, OJ and pineapple gummy notes slowly leading to light pine and bitter orange skin towards the end as it mellows out for an off-dry finish with herbal spiciness lingering. Truly a great Hazy IPA, but with MASSIVE Breakky Juice vibes!
