However, the vine cycle was slowed by late spring frosts on 27th and 28th April, which hit the Bordeaux vineyard hard. Most fortunately, the outstanding terroir of Château Villemaurine, located in the heart of the Saint Emilion limestone plateau, was spared damage. Despite cool weather in May, vine vegetation developed at pace. After an early flowering, a very hot and sunny June brought about the start of veraison at the beginning of July. Moderately hot summer temperatures enabled the grapes to ripen slowly and gradually and maintain acidity in the fruit, thereby bringing lovely freshness and auguring well for excellent balances in the wine. The first grapes were harvested on 25th September, in what was a very homogeneous crop with very good levels of ripeness and excellent vine health. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"\u003eTasting Notes\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe wine has a deep colour and on the nose reveals lovely aromatic expression and vibrant, pure fruit character. On the palate, the tannins are tight-knit and silky, precise and well balanced. The mid-palate shows a freshness that brings great energy to the wine.
